Our Current Sermon Series

VIEW OUR 2026 CHURCH CALENDAR

We will have no services this Sunday, January 25 due to weather forecasts. As I’m sure you’ve heard, we are expecting a significant winter storm on Saturday and Sunday in Memphis. We don’t anticipate being able to meet in person safely for worship. Please check on neighbors and any Sycamore View-ers who might have trouble staying safe in bad weather. If you have any needs, please reach out to your shepherd or one of the ministers.

We have prepared about a 35-minute video that we hope ministers to you this weekend. This video includes some teaching, interviews, blessings, and a devotional that will lead you through communion. If you’re able, we encourage you to watch the video from a warm place on Sunday morning at 10:15. The idea of being gathered even while we are scattered is powerful. If you can’t watch it Sunday morning, we hope you’ll watch it when you are able to connect to God and our church family. We encourage you to have communion supplies readily available before you start the video. Feel free to share this link. We will post this video on our streaming services on Sunday morning as well.

A few weeks ago, we hosted our first ever PreView. The goal was to raise awareness about events, ministries, and initiatives from Jan-May in the life of our church. We hope it was both informational and inspirational. We desire clear paths to grow in Christ and to connect with each other. We planned for about 180 adults to attend. Over 225 adults came to PreView. Thank you!

Holy Spirit Music Playlist

In our current sermon series, “Poured Out: In Need of the Person, Presence, Promise, and Power of The Holy Spirit,” Josh is leading us through a seven-month journey, broken up into five parts. Memory Verses for 2026

Last year as a family we committed to memorizing Ephesians 3:14-21 together. This year, we are focused on two passages to commit to memory: Acts 2:32-33 and Romans 8:26-27. We are using the New Living Translation to do this. There are free bookmarks with our verses! Feel free to pick one up in the lobby.

Acts 2:32-33

32 God raised Jesus from the dead, and we are all witnesses of this. 33 Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today."

Romans 8:26-27

26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.

Year Three of 50 for 50!

This month, we had a new video on our Boys and Girls Club! Make sure to listen to the companion podcast with Tevaris Douglas and Jim Hinkle (plus a special pop-in from Isaiah Davis!) to hear more about the history of our Boys and Girls Club!

We want to share an exciting initiative happening regarding our homeless community on Sycamore View called “The Joshua Project!” Briefly, the Joshua Project is a holistic approach to serving the homeless and addicted on Sycamore View. It is a compilation of churches, healthcare, addiction recovery services, and security. The plan is to serve on Sycamore View from February 9-14th, 3:00PM – 8:00PM. Each night, a meal will be served, warm clothing and other items will be available, and services offered to anyone who wants to detox and make the steps to get into drug recovery, and eventually off the streets.

On Saturday, February 7th at 9:00AM, churches and volunteers are invited to meet on Sycamore View Road near the corner of Sycamore View and Summer Ave. to line the streets and pray.

Sycamore View has committed to providing and serving the meal on Wednesday, February 11th to about 150 people. We will also have the building open that week for bathroom breaks for volunteers. We will need plenty of volunteers to help provide food, be present at the church building, and serve at the event.

They are asking anyone who wants to be volunteer to participate in a training session on Saturday, January 31st at New Hope Christian Church at 10:00AM. You do not have to have to go to the training to be apart of the Prayer morning on Sycamore View Road.

Daily Bread Food Pantry Drive

February is the month of love, so let’s love our community by stocking our food pantry! For the month of February, you can pick up bags in the foyer to fill with needed items for our Daily Bread Pantry. Thank you for always supplying what is needed and willingly standing with the marginalized!

Recurring Giving

One of our Five Commitments is to “Give.” One way to build this discipline into your life rhythms is to set up recurring giving. It only takes a minute, but it’s the gift that keeps on giving! Here’s how to set up your first recurring giving and edit previously scheduled recurring gifts:

Select Recurring: Make sure “Recurring” is underlined in green.
Click “Fund”: You’ll be prompted to choose between our General Budget and our Youth Offering. Select “General Budget” to give to the weekly offering.
Customize the Amount: Type the amount you would like to give.
Select Recurrence and Timeline: You have the option to give weekly, bi-weekly, twice a month, monthly, quarterly, or annually. Select which option you would like. If you would like to begin giving at a later date, select “start date” and edit the date to reflect when you would like to begin giving!

To EDIT your already scheduled recurring giving:

Click “Sign In” on the first scree & use your giving login.
Click “Scheduled” to see your currently scheduled giving.**
Click the pencil icon on the far right to edit.
Edit the amount or frequency.

**Note: If you are on a mobile device, you will have to select the three lines in the top left corner of your screen to access the “scheduled” tab.

MidSouth Girls Conference

MidSouth Girls Conference is coming up on January 31st. This event brings hundreds of Middle School and High School girls to Memphis to study The Word with powerful speakers and praise. One way SVC serves every year is by giving away door prizes.

We are asking for gift cards only as door prizes. You can help by donating a $5-$10 gift card to Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, or anywhere else that you think teenage girls would enjoy! You can also Venmo Anica (@Anica-Irvin) to give if you do not have time to purchase a gift card. Another way to bless girls conference is by covering it in prayer. We are hoping that all the girls who attend will be met by the Holy Spirit in a powerful way. Thank you in advance for any prayers or donations!

“Created and Called”

We believe that God created us with intention and purpose. God’s good design for us includes a call to be different from the world when it comes to relationships and intimacy. We want to make sure we have an understanding of how God created us and how He has called us. On Sunday mornings, our high school students will participate in these conversations guided by the Christian Sexuality curriculum. On January 28th, February 4th, and February 11th we will have an adult faith offering that will view the content our high school students will be seeing on Sundays in February. This offering will be in room 5 from 6:30-7:30 PM and led by Anna Grace Hinkle and Matt Caskey. We hope that these conversations will highlight and honor God’s creation and call on our lives! Women’s Ministry

2026 Reset // February 7

Our WoW (Women of the Word!) Ministry has so many upcoming events for connection this year. The Ladies Bible Study is on Tuesday mornings at 9:30am in Room 100!

There are also several events coming up! On February 7, get your year started off right with the annual WoW Reset- 2026 Edition. Join all SV women for a morning of worship and a message from Sarah Brooks. See the flyer below for more information.

White Station's Isaiah House is now open! The Buddy Bins are getting low. With the cold weather, teen boy jeans, sweats, and hoodies, etc. are in great demand. All items should be new and without logos. Thank you for your generosity in supporting these children who are enduring a very upsetting situation. For more information, contact Sue Petrey.
